Alimony

When you are accustomed to a certain lifestyle as a married couple, separation and divorce can have a major impact on that. In order to maintain a reasonable standard of living, you may be eligible to receive financial support from your former spouse that they are legally obligated to provide.

Child Support

Divorce can bring so much uncertainty into your life, but when a child, or children, are involved it’s important to minimize the chaos it brings to theirs. The custodial parent (who has custody of the children a majority of the time) has the right to continuing financial support for the benefit of the child.

Child Custody

This is one of the most emotional and important topics to resolve in family law. Child custody is divided into physical and legal custody. The physical custody of your child is shared based on how much time each parent gets to spend with the child. Legal custody is what protects your ability to make decisions regarding your child. I work to keep the child's best interest in mind when establishing these plans.

Visitation

Visitation is the legal plan for how the separated parents will share time with the children. The non-custodial parent (who has the children less than half of the time) has visitation rights with the children. Visitation orders can vary, depending on the best interests of the children, the situation of the parents, etc. I can help you figure out the best visitation plan for your new normal.

Separation

A legal separation is a court order that mandates the rights and responsibilities of a couple while they are still married but living apart. Although legal separations aren't as common as divorce, they can be particularly helpful while spouses work through any personal or financial issues they have that are affecting their marriage.

Equitable distribution

When a divorce is contentious, fairly distributing the property and debt obligations can be a hot-button issue. Instead of splitting everything 50-50, the equitable distribution looks at the future financial situations of each spouse. You’ll want a strong legal representative to help you reach the fairest resolution.
